Molluscum contagiosum and AcNeem Spot Treatment

November 25 2024 – Magdalena A Radtke

My 2 year old grandson developed Molluscum contagiosum (mo-LUS-kum kun-tay-jee-OH-sum), a blistery infection of the skin that is caused by a virus.

The Mayo Clinic explains: Molluscum contagiosum causes round, firm, painless bumps ranging in size from a pinhead to a pencil eraser. If the bumps are scratched or injured, the infection can spread to nearby skin . . . It usually gets better without treatment in 6 months to 2 years. Once the bumps are gone, you're no longer contagious. After healing, it's possible to become reinfected with the virus.

I had not ever heard of it but my daughter confirmed that it was quite common in small children. It is not dangerous but very contagious. She said, “In terms of treatment options, we were often told there’s not a whole lot you can do. There are options to apply creams to irritate the skin so the bumps dry up and fall off faster. We tried one of the creams, but it really didn't do much at all."  She knew that products containing Salicylic Acid can help and gave AcNeem Spot Treatment a trial run. This is what she did:

She soaked a Qtip with AcNeem Spot Treatment and rubbed it on a small square bandage, making sure the sticky part stayed clean of oil. Then she covered each blister with the bandage. It stayed on for days sometimes. The healing process lasted about 2-3 months, but already after 1-2 weeks she saw a dramatic improvement which kept her going the first time around.

This amazing result encouraged us to write the blog and spread the good news to other parents so their children can be helped quicker than having to wait 6 months to 2 years.
